Modern Sashiko - Japanese Hand Embroidery
Learn the basics of Modern Japanese Sashiko (hand embroidery). You will make an adorable drawstring pouch with a daisy design, perfect for a small holiday gift. We will hand stitch the design and sew the pouch together for a complete project beginning to end. This is a one part class that requires pre-class prep that will be outlined in an email from the instructor that you will receive about a week beforehand.

Requirements: | The book with the pattern is included in the price of the class. You will need two fabrics 1/2 yard each. (Preferably solid quilting cotton or blender, I've used Pepper Cotton solids). 1 1/2 yards drawstring 1/4" rope/cord. Sashiko needle. Sashiko leather thimble. Two colors of Valdani or similar thread. Sashiko, 12 or 8 weight pearl cotton acceptable. Scissors, chalk marking tool or similar removable marking tool. To finish the bag you will need a sewing machine, please bring your own or you can rent one from the shop. Sewing thread to match your project. A needle puller for ease of stitching is recommended. Snacks and covered drink for break time. |
